2022 Tips For Rookie Teams - Week 6
With the competition dates rapidly approaching, you should be finishing up your robot so that you are ready for your regional/district event. All sub-teams of the team should be working hard to make sure the robot is ready for competition.
Programmers should be polishing off their code and working out all the bugs. Ensure that you can always control your robot in case something unexpected happens. Troubleshoot your code to correct errors so that you don’t have to deal with them during the event.
Build Team should have the robot should be wired and have a frame. Work with the programming team to find potential drivers and train them to drive the robot. If you already have a driver ready to drive the robot, you can still practice by running drills with the robot to further develop your skills and maximize points during the game.
Admin Team should start preparing any files/documents required for your chairman’s presentation. Additionally, if your team is preparing for any awards, make sure that you practice ensuring your team does it the best of their ability. Lastly, be sure to discuss what the activity at the pits will be like, so that members take turns at the pits, ready to present to the awards judges.
We hope your team is well-prepared for the competition. Wishing all teams good luck with this year’s Rapid React game!

2022 Tips For Rookie Teams - Week 4/5
We are halfway through build season!! We are almost at the end but keep working hard, there is still lots of work that needs to be done.
Build team should be starting to assemble their robot as well as finishing up the field elements. The field elements will help your team practice before your competition. Don’t focus too much on being perfect but the dimensions should be the same as what is being used in the actual competition.
Drive team should be starting to practice their driving skills and doing drills. We suggest using a practice robot or a shopbot for this. New drivers still need to build their skills so using a shopbot will ensure that nothing totally important gets ruined if something happens.
Admin needs to continue to work on Chairmans and any other awards your team wants to apply for. The deadlines are coming up so try to get these done as soon as possible. These award applications require lots of time and effort to make perfect. Take your time and be sure to keep in mind the character limit.
Keep working hard and good luck rookies!

2022 Tips For Rookie Teams - Week 3
As week 3 sums up, we recommend you start building your robot. By this point teams should have a plan for their robot to provide more time for the programmers to test and drive it upon completion. The robot should be drivable by next week in order for programmers to begin working with it as soon as possible. Additionally, the administration team should begin prepping for the Woodie Flowers and Chairman's essays in order to complete them by the deadline. Thank you for reading, and good luck building the robot!
2022 Tips For Rookie Teams - Week 2
As we enter the second week of build season, your team should be prototyping and starting to experiment this week. Prototyping will help your team learn what works and what doesn’t for your robot design. Make sure to remember that if your design does not work the first time, it doesn't mean that with a few adjustments it won’t fix it. Just keep trying and you will eventually succeed.
This is also the time to build a strong foundation of communication with the whole team. For example, the admin team should know what the build team is doing and the programming team should know what the admin team is doing. Everyone should know the inner workings of the team. This will ensure that everyone is on the same page and no one is left out of the loop.
The admin team should be reaching out to companies to get sponsors. Sponsors are a huge part of any FRC team. They will help your team grow and be able to afford everything needed. The more sponsors you have, the more prepared your team will be. Ask anyone you know, even if you think they will say no. There is always a chance that they will help.
That's it for this week! Good luck, rookies!

2022 Tips For Rookie Teams - Week 1
All team members should be familiar with the game manual and the premise of the game. This should give as many different brainstorming ideas for your team as possible. Remember that there are no bad ideas in FIRST, so suggest anything that comes to mind. Having a CAD model done by the end of this week will give you time to prototype and build your robot. Programmers should be creating and testing their first iteration of code. Starting early will give you plenty of time to flush out errors. Picking potential drivers straightaway will ensure they have enough time to learn about the robot and field. It is also recommended that field elements are made so drivers have realistic obstacles to avoid. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us on our website or social media.
