“When I was creating the 8-bit logo, I felt happy to do so, because it would be displayed to everyone at the tournament. Also, I learned new skills, such as using the new programs (make8bitart.com) and how to make a logo. I am very proud to have this logo used by our Hephaestus team, and as a rookie, I would definitely want to design it again next year!” - Andrew Kwon
We interviewed one of our grade eights and we were mesmerized by the success and pride they have achieved while designing our logo to show off at FRC’s!
Our team had such an memorable experience creating branding statements at our personal branding workshop. We learned lots of new things that help us to strive to become better people through team work. Our team as a whole is super thankful for our presenter who took time out of his busy day to talk to our team on how to better represent or brand yourself regardless if you are at an interview or at a FIRST Robotics Competition.
The first newsletter for 2018 is now out! Start the year off by reading about our team and this year's competition. A big thank you to all the sponsors from last year for their support, as we hope to see many return this year!
Our season has now officially started. The countdown begins, 6 weeks starts today.
Today is the start to the 2018 FIRST ROBOTICS challenge. We kicked off the season by meeting with the entire team and forming groups to find an effective strategy to overcome the obstacles by inputting everyone's ideas through team work!
Last Sunday, our team hosted a FIRST Lego League Tournament with 19 teams. All thanks to the wonderful volunteers who gave up their precious time, the first FLL Tournament to be hosted at our school ran smoothly and was a great success. A huge thank you to all the volunteers from Team Hephaestus. We couldn't do this without you!
Team Hephaestus is ready for Christmas! Just earlier today, a couple of members from our team finished wrapping shoe boxes and filled them with little toys related to robotics and engineering to give to young children. Now they can enjoy their Christmas with some new toys!
We have been running a Battery Drive in our school and community for the past three weeks. So far we have encouraged people to bring their old, useless and dead batteries to us so that we can recycle them the right way. Throughout the early stages of our campaign, we taught people the significance of recycling battery waste and information about battery waste all over the world. So far we have collected nearly 800 batteries, removing over 40 pounds of potential battery waste from the environment and landfills. We hope to continue this campaign and reach out further into our community.
